TWO brothers have been jailed for a series of distraction burglaries on elderly victims.

William Henry Vincent, 27, and Amos Vincent, 24, from St Paul’s Cray, targeted two women in the Lewisham area, aged 83 and 90, as well as an 85-year-old man in Catford.

They snatched at least £90 in cash and six war medals belonging to the elderly man by posing as members of the gas and water boards.

The pair were sentenced at Blackfriars Crown Court after pleading guilty to three counts of burglary at an earlier hearing.

Det Con Keith Simmonett, who led the investigation, said: "I thank the witnesses who came forward and gave evidence to the police as undoubtedly without their evidence these convictions may not have been possible."
