James Faiers' Range Rover is driven to court.

A motorist has been accused of driving at 153mph on the motorway.

Prosecutors claimed James Faiers clocked the speed on the M20 in a Range Rover.

Neil Sweeney, prosecuting, told a court his speed had been monitored by a police car following him.

Faiers admitted breaking the speed limit - but not going that fast.

Craig Harris, representing him, said: "He denies travelling at anything more than 100mph."

Faiers is accused of clocking up the speed at 2.30am last October 28 on the coastbound carriageway of the M20 at Ashford.

It is alleged that 153.3mph was recorded by a police speedometer.

Faiers, 35, of Canterbury Road, Etchinghill, pleaded guilty at Folkestone Magistrates' Court to speeding in above the 70mph motorway limit.

Magistrates agreed to adjourn the case for a Newton hearing.

This is for a defendant pleading guilty to an offence but disputing specific details alleged.

The case was adjourned to August 12 and will be heard at Margate Magistrates' Court.
