Jaeger files for administration: Bluewater, Ashford and Tunbridge Wells stores at risk

A high-end designer brand has gone into administration, putting hundreds of jobs at risk.

Directors at Jaeger, which has three stores in Kent, has today appointed administrators Alix Partners after failing to sell the chain.

The British retailer has 46 stores and 63 concessions employing 680 people, with shops at Bluewater, McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Ashford and Tunbridge Wells.

The designer store, owned by Better Capital, has been on the market for around £30 million but has failed to sell.

Joint administrator Peter Saville said: “Regrettably despite an extensive sales process it has not been possible to identify a purchaser for the business.

“Our focus now is in identifying an appropriate route forward and work with all stakeholders to do this.”

The business will contine to trade while administrators decide what to do.
