Jurors sworn in for shooting murder trial

A jury has been sworn in for the trial of a man accused of the shotgun murder of a former nightclub doorman.

Kenneth Batchelor, 50, is alleged to have killed Matthew Clements, of Wayside Avenue, St Michael's, Tenterden, on November 18 2007.

Mr Clements, a 26-stone body builder, aged 41 and known as Mad Matt and Bigfoot, suffered a fatal chest wound outside Batchelor's home at Hendon Cottages, Canterbury Road, Chilham.

The case is due to start at Maidstone Crown Court today.
