Kent could be basking in temperatures of 20C today as the county enjoys a period of “exceptionally mild” weather.

The Met Office says after a chilly start, it will be another sunny and warm day with light winds, which could make it one of the hottest days of the year.

The average temperature for this time of year is 5C, but it is expected to be more than treble that this afternoon.

And although it will start off foggy tomorrow morning, more sunny spells are expected to lead to temperatures of 17C.

It comes as the hottest February day on record in Britain was recorded in Wales yesterday when the mercury touched 20.3C.

However, people in Kent should make the most of the hot weather while they can as the outlook for Thursday is for showers and strong winds on Saturday, bringing heavy rain.
