Kent are set to sign Pakistan international Wahab Riaz after he received clearance from the Pakistan Cricket Board to play county cricket.

A left-arm fast bowler and a right-hand batsman, Riaz is considered to be a bowling all-rounder.

He made his Test debut at The Oval on the tour of England last year and took 5-63 in the first innings to help set up victory Pakistan.

Riaz has played seven Tests and taken 17 wickets as well as claiming 38 wickets in 22 one-day internationals.

Kent, who have been struggling with injuries to their pace bowlers this season, hope the deal will be finalised next week when Riaz receives a visa.

A statement from the club read: "Wahab Riaz today received confirmation that the Pakistan Cricket Board will provide the necessary 'no objection certificate' that will allow him to play domestic cricket in England.

"We very much look forward to Wahab joining the club. Although his arrival is still subject to visa clearance, it is hoped this will be finalised during the coming week."
