Kent are still in the hunt for a place in the semi-finals of the Clydesdale Bank 40 after a Duckworth-Lewis victory at Derbyshire Falcons on Tuesday night.

A four-hour rain delay left the Spitfires facing their fourth no-result of the competition before Rob Key’s men triumphed by nine wickets chasing a target of 67.

Captain Key (17) was the only man to fall, with Sam Billings (pictured) (28) and Sam Northeast (22 not out) seeing Kent home with 19 balls to spare.

The win keeps alive Kent’s hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals as the best runners-up.

Falcons reached 22 after being put into bat before Matt Coles got Chesney Hughes (11) driving at a delivery that moved away and he was caught behind by Geraint Jones.

Usman Khawaja (11) played on to his leg stump off Azhar Mahmood, then Wes Dusrton (11) was caught behind off Darren Stevens.

Home captain Wayne Madsen (9) also fell to Stevens while D Redfern (4) was run out as the hosts wound up on 62-5.

It was advantage Spitfires after the rain relented, with Billings and Key turning the screw by hitting 23 off the first three overs.

Key hit three fours before falling to Mark Turner but Northeast clinched victory in the 11 over with consecutive fours off David Wainwright.
