Kent's specialist volunteer rescue service needs £30,000
for a new vehicle it says will help save lives in
the county.

Kent Search and Rescue Service is appealing for cash
from members of the public and local businesses to stay
alive.

Volunteers at the charity say nearly 2,000 people - who often
involved elderly dementia suffers - go missing in Kent every
year.

The organisation helps police and other agencies find them and
has been involved in more than 300 cases where missing people have
been found.

But the group claims it can't continue its work if a new
vehicle cannot be bought.

The new motor will include on-board computers, night vision
equipment, mountain bikes and canoes.

Volunteer Stuart Kenny said: "Without being over dramatic,
this vehicle will help save lives.

"We need the help of people in Kent to raise this money so that
we continue to find missing people, save lives, and provide this
much needed resource to the police and other emergency
services."
