Kent have turned to Essex seamer Tony Palladino in a bid to solve their bowling problems.

Palladino arrives at the St Lawrence ground on a one-month loan with Kent’s bowling resources severely stretched.

The right-arm bowler last featured for Essex at the end of April when his five overs cost 48 runs during a 10-wicket Clydesdale Bank 40 defeat to Warwickshire.

He made his county debut in 2003 and has 99 first class wickets to his name at an average of 35.30.

Palladino said: "I am really pleased to be joining Kent as it gives me a chance to hopefully play some first team cricket.

"I have been with Essex for 11 years, from youth team through to the first XI, but my chances have been limited this season. I am looking forward to pulling on a Kent shirt."

Kent team director Paul Farbrace (pictured) added: "We are really pleased that the deal has been agreed with Essex and we now hope that Tony will do well for Kent. He played for Namibia over the winter, in the South Africa Airways Provincial Challenge Series, and we hope he performs well in Kent colours."
