Kent still have everything to play for, insists team director Paul Farbrace

Paul Farbrace insists there are no "dead" games remaining in Kent’s season as they prepare to resume their Clydesdale Bank 40 campaign against Hampshire Royals at Canterbury on Sunday.

Back-to-back wins against the Scottish Saltires, before Twenty20 took centre stage in early June, boosted Spitfires’ indifferent start to the new competition after two defeats by leaders Warwickshire Bears and wash-outs against Durham Dynamos and Notts Outlaws.

Team director Farbrace (pictured) said: "None of the games we have left will be easy. They all have something on them and we still have an awful lot to play for.

"Hampshire are a good side with quality players but it’s an important stage in the competition and we want to play well against them.

"We owe them one, after the defeats in the Championship and our last t20 game at Canterbury."

Spitfires are third behind Warwickshire and Notts, with six games to play while the Royals are second bottom, after winning only two of their six games so far.

Farbrace added: "We have a chance of qualifying and it’s still an open group. We will be looking to take a lot of confidence from the way we finished the Twenty20 campaign."

Robbie Joseph is unlikely to be involved at the weekend after he missed the game against Somerset this week.

He returned against Hampshire at the beginning of the month after being sidelined for more than a year after shoulder surgery but Farbrace, asked to elaborate on the reasons for his latest absence, described him "as not quite right or ready to bowl."

He hopes Joseph will be ready to face Essex at Canterbury in the LV= County Championship Division 1 game, which starts next Thursday.

The game on Sunday starts at 1.45pm.
