Kent may operate without an overseas import next summer and their financial situation will impact on other player recruitment.

Reserve wicketkeeper Paul Dixey is the latest player to leave the club, after having his contract cancelled. He follows Amjad Khan, James Hockley, Rob Ferley, Warren Lee and Phil Edwards out of St Lawrence.

Team director Paul Farbrace said: "We are in a tough position and until the club get on a stronger, better financial footing, we are going to have to make do with what we have got and fight on.

"There are no plans to bring anyone in and there’s no point even looking to bolster the squad.

"We haven’t begun to look at overseas players and at this stage it is unlikely we will but that’s not confirmed."
