This year will be remembered by residents for suffering some of the most extreme weather experienced in Kent in recent years.

It began with the county being battered by the Beast from the East, which dumped up to 15 inches of snow on the county, causing widespread travel disruption and forcing hundreds of schools to close.

Then just as temperatures started to return to normal in the spring there was six weeks of heavy rain that caused flooding and made driving conditions treacherous.

It left everyone looking forward to a nice warm summer, but many were left blistering as hot temperatures threatened to break records and raised fears of water shortages.
