UK general election triggered after Boris Johnson misses Halloween Brexit deadline

It was supposed to be the week Brexit was finally delivered.
Instead, the Halloween deadline came and went and the government triggered a general election saying it was the only way to break the political deadlock.

How might Kent vote? Our political editor Paul Francis assessed the prospects for the parties:
- Nigel Farage threatened to put up candidates in 500 seats if the Tories did not agree to a pact
- Despite having a wafer thin majority of 187 there was confidence in Canterbury amongst the Labour Party it could hang on to its only Kent seat.
