A PASSENGER in a car died after being thrown through the rear window of the vehicle on the notorious A228 road in Medway.

The victim become the 30th person to die on that stretch of road since 1984. He is believed to be in his twenties but police have not yet released his identity.

Police are investigating how the passenger was thrown from the car. One theory is that he was not wearing a seat belt. They have appealed for any information regarding the crash.

A Strood Fire and Rescue crew provided lighting for the crash investigation team.

A spokesman at Strood Fire Station said: "We provided lighting to enable the crash investigation team to carry out a full investigation. We were on scene for about an hour."
