Killer road's latest victim is named

KENT Police have identified the latest victim to die on the notorious A228 road in Medway as 42-year-old Jeremy Newnham.

Motorcyclist Mr Newnham, who lived in Elmwood Road, Chattenden, near Rochester, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on July 19 in Malmaynes Road, Stoke.

The collision involved three vehicles – Mr Newnham’s Suzuki motorcycle, an HGV lorry and a Ford Mondeo car. The driver and passenger in the car were treated in hospital for shock and possible fractures.

An inquest into Mr Newnham’s death, the 34th on the road, has been opened. A spokesman for Medway coroner’s office said: “The cause of death was multiple injuries and the inquest into his death has been adjourned.”
