More than 20,000 homes in Kent will soon be able to watch KMTV for the first time, but you may need to re-tune your TV.

Freeview channels are moving to new airwaves in order to modernise services, and changes in Kent will begin on Thursday, July 19.

If you're watching KMTV on Freeview Channel 7, you may lose service after the engineering work has taken place, but there's no need to panic.

To re-locate any missing TV stations, you simply need to re-tune your television set, and could even qualify for a free aerial upgrade.

After the change, viewers should be able to watch KMTV in Rochester, Snodland, Sheerness, Sheppy and St Mary's Island.

Homes in Stockbury, Harrietsham, Addington, Chart Sutton, Gillingham and Sittingbourne are also set to receive Kent's only dedicated news channel.

There will also be reception near Faversham, and a small part of Bearsted.

Work will be carried out on transmitters in Blue Bell Hill, Tunbridge Wells and Heathfield, and Freeview channels will be off-air between 12am and 6am.

The process should be straightforward, and some equipment will re-tune itself automatically.

Viewers may also be eligible for free in-home support and aerial work if needed.
