Knife-wielding man robs bookmakers

Terrified staff at a bookmakers were forced to hand over £100 to a masked knifeman.

The man went into Coral in St John’s Road, Whitstable on Monday evening and demanded money from staff.

He showed a knife to a man behind the counter and about £100 was handed over before the robber left and headed towards Chestfield station.

The man is described as aged 20 to 30 and wearing a black padded jacket with AIR written on the back.

He had a hooded top with the hood up and a scarf across his face.

Police offficers are studying CCTV and have made house to house inquiries.

Anyone who may have seen the man in the area before or after the incident at 8pm should contact police on 01227 868117.
