Lorry crashes into motorway bridge

A LORRY crashed into a bridge and went down an embankment leaving its driver with multiple injuries.

The vehicle came off the London-bound carriageway of the M20, at Junction 8 for Leeds, at around 6.37am on Saturday.

Police, Kent Ambulance and Kent Fire and Rescue pumps - two from Maidstone and one from Lenham - were called to the scene.

Firefighters had to stabilise the vehicle, and used hydraulic equipment to remove the driver from the lorry.

The crews announced that the incident was dealt with at around 8am.

However, the motorway was closed for several hours while the lorry was recovered causing travel difficulties for weekend drivers.
