So how do you get yourself out of a tight spot like this?

Let your tyres down of cause.

Police sealed off the road at about 10.15am and after taking advice the patrols finally agreed the tyres had to be deflated to free the vehicle.

Network Rail inspectors were called to the scene and lines closed for 25 minutes whilst they inspected the bridge. Luckily no structural damage was found.

The rail lines were re-opened at 10.40am and the road at 11.20am.

A Network Rail spokesman said: “Bridge strikes cause delays to both motorists and rail passengers but they are avoidable.

“We urge drivers to be aware of the height of their vehicles, plan their routes carefully and pay attention to advisory signs.”
