THE windscreen of a moving car was smashed by a bottle which was thrown across the M2.

It happened between while the car was travelling on the London-bound carriageway at Hartlip, near Sittingbourne.

Police say a 50-year-old woman was driving her turquoise Toyota Corolla when a glass bottle was thrown from across the carriageway smashing the windscreen and denting the bonnet of the car. It is thought that £300 worth of damage was caused in the incident.

PC Warren Jarvis: "It is extremely fortunate that someone was not seriously hurt or even killed by this stupid and thoughtless act.

"The person who did this has absolutely no comprehension of the danger they have put the driver, and other road users, in. I cannot understand why anyone would find this behaviour fun or entertaining."

Anyone with information about the incident, which took place between 4.20pm and 4.40pm on Saturday, July 15, is asked to contact police in Sittingbourne on 01795 419177 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
