Man charged in connection with cyclist's death

A 42-YEAR-OLD man has been charged following the death of a cyclist in Margate. Frederick Parsons, 57, of Approach Road, Cliftonville, died on Wednesday after he was in collision with a Metro in Dane Valley Road, Margate.

A man from Margate was arrested the following day and charged with failing to stop after an accident and failing to report the accident. He will appear before magistrates in the town on Tuesday.

A 21-year-old woman from Margate has been released on police bail until March.

It is believed that following the collision, the white Metro continued its journey to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate.

Police are keen to trace any witnesses to the crash, or anyone who may have seen the vehicle which would have had clear damage after the incident occurred.
