A 46-year-old Ramsgate man was today remanded in custody charged with the attempted murder of a woman in the town.

Nicholas Johnson, of Vale Square, appeared before Thanet magistrates at Margate accused of attempting to murder Nicola Johnson, 47, at an address in Vale Square on Tuesday.

She was taken to the Queen Mother Hospital at Margate. Her condition is described as stable.

Mr Johnson was remanded in custody. He will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, May 7.
