A MAN has been jailed for handling goods stolen from the Queen's cousin.

Tracey Woods, of Chislett Close, Sellindge, was sentenced to six months in jail at Maidstone Crown Court on for the offence.

Mr Woods, 51, was found guilty in September. He had been found with antiques that had previously belonged to Lady Brabourne, Countess Mountbatten's daughter of the Late Louis Mountbatten and cousin to the Queen.

It was later discovered that many of the items were stolen during burglaries in 1998 and 2000 from her home in Mersham, near Ashford.

A search was carried out at Woods's home in 2004 and over 200 antiques were seized.

Officers have carried out extensive investigations to find the owners of the items including placing them on a Lost and Stolen website organised by Greater Manchester Police and liaising with over 50 victims of crime who had reported similar items stolen both in Kent and Sussex.
