A man is in a critical condition in hospital after he jumped from the roof of an Asda following a stand off holding what appeared to be a knife.

Pictures on social media showed the man waving something as he looks down from the building at The Broadway in Bexleyheath.

The man, thought to be in his late 30s, had made threats to harm himself before he jumped.
