DETECTIVES are today questioning a man in connection with the rape and attempted murder of a woman more than eight years ago.

The victim, who was aged 19 at the time, was attacked as she walked along Edwin Road in Rainham in the early hours of Sunday, August 11, 1996.

Police say they have arrested a 36-year-old man from the Rainham area.

The suspect is being questioned by detectives at Swale Police Station at Sittingbourne.
