A "vulnerable" man was talked out of jumping from the Sheppey Crossing early today.

The Sheerness inshore lifeboat was called to the scene at 4.26am to be on hand to rescue the man from the water if he fell.

No further details about the man are known at the moment.

The highest point of the £100m crossing, which opened in July 2006, is 30m.
