Man stabbed in alleyway brawl

FIVE men were arrested, including one who had been stabbed, following a fight between a large group of people using weapons in an alleyway in Cliftonville, near Margate.

The injured man, aged 30, is in a stable condition at the Queen Mother hospital at Margate where he is under police guard. He was arrested for alleged violent disorder.

Police were called to the alley off Athelstan Road shortly after 8pm on Sunday after several members of the public telephoned to report the fighting.

All those arrested come from Margate and are currently helping police with their inquiries.

They include a 32-year-old man and a 28-year-old man who were arrested on suspicion of causing grevious bodily harm, another 32-year-old man and a 29-year-old man who were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
