A FORMER teacher who claimed to be seeing angels and demons stripped naked and threw himself off an 11th floor balcony.

Psychotic Colin Curry told doctors and carers that he saw angels and demons as he went about his daily life.

But leading up to his death in September 7 last year, he was said to be coming out of depression and actively looking to turn over a new leaf.

An inquest into his death heard how Mr Curry, 55, had battled with mental illness for years before his death.

Mr Curry was found lying on the pavement at the foot of Wellington Court Flats, Chatham, where he lived.

Det Supt Alan Townsend from Kent Police was called to the scene and discovered Mr Curry’s clothes neatly folded in a pile in the stairwell on the 11th floor.

Eyewitness Michael May saw Mr Curry plummet to his death. In a statement read out at the inquest he said: “At about 4pm I went out on to my balcony and I saw a white male come out on to the stairwell balcony on the 11th floor.

“Then I saw him lean over the balcony and he continued to lean over until gravity pulled him over.”

Coroner Roger Sykes recorded a verdict of suicide.
