A 35-year-old man has died after the car he was working on fell on top of him.

The man, a resident of Horse Shoe Caravan Park in Bell Farm Lane, Minster, Sheppey, was underneath his red Ford Escort, changing its exhaust, when the horror happened.

The jack slipped and the car fell on top of him. Other residents freed him and tried to resuscitate him until an ambulance arrived.

The man was taken to Maidstone Hospital by air ambulance but was pronounced dead on arrival. The victim has not yet been named.
