Man's body found in sea

POLICE say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was discovered in the sea off a Kent beach.

The body was found at Westgate, near Margate. Police say the man was aged 76 and lived in Westgate. His name has not yet been released.

The discovery was made at about 7.45am on Sunday by a walker near St Mildred’s Bay beach.

A police spokeswoman said: "The man spotted the body in the sea near Pav’s Cafe. He pulled him from the water to the shore."

His relatives have been contacted. The facts have been reported to Thanet coroner and an inquest will be held.
