Mark McCammon could be the man to fill the void left by 11-goal striker Simeon Jackson.

Gillingham’s top scorer Jackson is away on international duty with Canada – who are playing Macedonia on Saturday and Poland on Wednesday – and that leaves manager Mark Stimson a big hole to fill against Oldham on Saturday.

McCammon, pictured, is back after another hamstring injury and he boosted his chances of starting after scoring twice in the midweek practice game against Dagenham & Redbridge.

Dennis Oli is the other option for Stimson to partner loanee Febian Brandy should he stick with his 4-4-2 formation.

Stimson knows Oldham will be tough to break down, having only conceded five goals on their travels so far this season.

"We’re confident but not overly confident," said Stimson.

"It would be great if we could have the same team as we did last week but whichever players we choose will give it their best. Oldham’s away form is good and they’ve pulled off some good results.

"Our home form has been good and we need to try and maintain that. It’s made more difficult with the two players we’re missing but we’ll get on with it."

Skipper Barry Fuller will also miss out through suspension which means Stimson has to choose between youngster Jack Payne, midfielder Stuart Lewis and utility player Chris Palmer to fill in at right-back.
