Gillingham head into the festive period with a near fully-fit squad.

The only doubt for the Gills earlier this week surrounded midfielder Chris Whelpdale, but even he may be fit.

Whelpdale has missed the last two games with a groin injury and is back in training, hoping to get back up to full fitness ahead of the trip to York on Saturday.

Gills boss Martin Allen, pictured, said: "It looks like Chris Whelpdale is going to be back for us. He is not 100% but he should be okay."

Allen named an unchanged starting XI for only the second time this season last weekend against Fleetwood and he’ll be utilising his squad to the maximum in the coming days.

Allen said: "Christmas is always a special period in the Football League calendar and we have got a good squad. They have all played in winning teams for Gillingham this season and everyone is going to get their chance."
