THE Prince of Wales will be among the audience at Rochester Cathedral for the Jools Holland concert on Tuesday (March 20) featuring his specially commissioned Mass.

The concert, starting at 3pm, will also feature three top line vocalists, Beverley Knight, Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall, as well as Rochester Cathedral choirs and the Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.

The event will raise money for the Rochester Cathedral Music Forever Fund.

Prince Charles is no stranger to Rochester Cathedral. He attended celebrations for the cathedral's 1,400th anniversary in 2004.

He and Jools Holland are firm friends, and the band leader and former Squeeze musician was among the guests at his wedding. Jools has been involved with The Prince's Trust, which helps disadvantaged people set up their own businesses.

The Mass has already been performed at Wells Cathedral where it was received with a standing ovation and rapturous applause. It had been commissioned by the Bishop of Bath and Wells.

Jools said: "I specifically chose Wells and Rochester Cathedrals as venues for the Mass as I have enjoyed the music and choirs of these two cathedrals enormously.

"The beauty and history of these buildings will make these shows a unique experience, not only for the audience but also for me."

Jools is a supporter of the Churches Conservation Trust which cares for 25 churches in the South East, including St James's Church, Cooling, near his home.

Tuesday's concert will consist of a mix of gospel and choral styles combined with Jools Holland's own music. Up to 700 people can attend.

Tickets can be obtained by telephoning the box office on 01634 817930 or SEE Tickets on 0870 166 0433.
