Ashley Clark from Higham killed in a motorcycle crash

A motorcyclist died when he lost control of his bike and collided with a car in Strood, an inquest heard.

Ashley Clark, 32, of Villa Road, Higham, suffered multiple injuries when he was thrown from his Kawasaki into the path of a Vauxhall Vectra on Cuxton Road.

Mr Clark, pictured, was on his way home at about 4.30pm on December 12, last year.
Witnesses described how he was travelling near the central white line as he approached a bend in the road.

It is thought Mr Clark saw the oncoming Vectra and tried to correct his path but he lost control of the bike and slid into the other side of the road.

Vectra driver Adrian Ayears said: “All I can remember is he [Mr Clark] lost control of the bike and he was coming over the handle bars.”

The court heard how it was dark at the time and drizzling so the road surface would have been wet.

Motorists and people living in the street tried desperately to save Mr Clark, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Recording a verdict of accidental death, coroner Roger Sykes said: “What happened would have happened very quickly indeed. He would have instantaneously lost consciousness.”
