Motorbike pair seriously hurt in crash

A MOTORCYCLIST and his pillion passenger were seriously injured in a collision with a car early yesterday morning.

The crash happened at around 6.40am on the A20 at Farningham, near Swanley.

The male rider of the Kawasaki motorcycle suffered serious injuries while his female passenger suffered a serious leg injury.

They were both taken to Darent Valley Hospital. Police described their condition as serious but stable.

The car involved was a silver Mercedes SLK.

The old A20 Farningham Hill was closed at the Swanley interchange while emergency services dealt with the incident. The road was reopened at 8.45am.

Meanwhile, three other people were hurt in separate road accidents in the county.

A man and a woman were cut free from a red Peugeot 406 after it came off the road at the A20/M25 roundabout at London Road, Swanley, at about 2.40am this morning.

They were both taken to hospital in Sidcup although police say their injuries are not thought to be serious.

Police were also called to a crash involving two cars on Rye Road, Sandhurst, near Cranbrook, at around 10.45am yesterday.

A woman was trapped in one of the vehicles and had to be freed before being taken to hospital by air ambulance. Police said her injuries are not serious.

The road was closed at the junction with Stonepitt Lane after the accident. It reopened shortly after noon.
