Motorbikes in collision on the A2

A husband and wife have been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after their motorbikes collided on the A2.

A 43-year-old man was taken to William Harvey Hospital and his 51-year-old wife was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London.

Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Police were called to the coast-bound carriageway at 12.27pm at Barham just after the B2046 Aylesham turn off.

The road was closed for over two hours and re-opened at 2.35pm.

The collision is the second incident on the A2 at Barham in a week. An articulated beer lorry crashed through the central reservation barrier on Tuesday morning.

A 37-year-old Highways Agency worker was killed while carrying out repairs following that acccident, after he was hit by a crane.
