The trial of a man charged with killing his elderly father in Gravesend has been delayed on medical grounds.

Tony Wotton, 47, of Mackenzie Way, was expected to enter his plea to the offence of murder at Maidstone Crown Court today Friday.

His trial had already been fixed to start on February 20. However, Judge Philip Statman was told at the brief hearing that Wotton would not be attending due to medical reasons. He is currently in custody at the Trevor Gibbons Unit in Maidstone.

The judge therefore vacated the trial date and Wotton is not expected to appear in court again until February 24. A new trial date has not been decided.

It is alleged Wotton killed his father, 71-year-old Terry Wotton (pictured left), on September 12.

He was found with multiple stab wounds at an address in Mackenzie Way.
Relatives of Wotton and his father were at the court hearing.
