POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was discovered lying on the pavement outside a seafront pub in Margate with a broken neck.

The 29-year-old man, from Westgate, is being treated for his injuries at Margate's Queen Mother Hospital.

CCTV footage from inside and outside the Punch and Judy pub at Marine Terrace is being scrutinised in an attempt to find out how the man was injured.

A police spokeswoman said: “He was inside the pub with a group of friends. There was a disturbance but we are not certain if the victim was involved or where exactly.

“All he recalls is ending up on the ground with his injuries. The pub staff are co-operating fully with our investigation.”

The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Sgt Mark Thorne on 01843 222013.
