The new Neighbourhood Task Team in Medway has already had a positive impact on local concerns in the Chatham area. The team was launched at the start of September to work alongside Neighbourhood Teams.

Unlike the existing neighbourhood officers, the task team are not dedicated to a single ward or district, but will target their support where it is most needed.

Following ‘Partners and Community Together’ (PACT) meetings with local residents around the New Road, Manor Road and Gundolph Road areas, Anti Social Behaviour was highlighted as a priority concern.

Over the last three weeks the task team have targeted the area and seen a significant reduction in the amount of anti social behaviour that has been reported.

Acting Chief Insp Mat Newton said:"By creating the Neighbourhood Task Team we are even better placed to tackle the issues identified by the public, through their PACT processes.

"This demonstrates that the team, in conjunction with the local Neighbourhood resources, have the ability to make swift improvements to a neighbourhood."

If you are concerned about any policing issues in your community, contact your local neighbourhood officer.
