Cross-Channel ferry services are back to normal as strikers at SeaFrace bring their industrial action to an end and return to work.

There was chaos on Friday as unions staged a walkout at Calais beginning at 7am.

All SeaFrance crossings were suspended until 8.30am Saturday - but worse was to follow as strikers blockaded the French port, which prevented P&O ferries from berthing.

The Pride of Canterbury and the Pride of Burgundy had to be turned around to head back to Dover and all services from Kent were suspended.

Phase two of Operation Stack - where the M20 is closed between junction 8 (Leeds Castle) and junction 9 (Ashford West) to allow freight traffic bound for Dover to park and queue - came into force on Friday afternoon.

Kent Police lifted it at around 1.15am Saturday.
