Opportunity to regain road skills

WHILE there are more than 31 million people qualified to drive in the UK, according to BSM a surprisingly large number of them are too nervous or intimidated by today's traffic conditions to set out on the road.

Many drivers lose their confidence behind the wheel. In some cases that follows an accident, in others their partner may have taken on the exclusive role of family driver. Sometimes, after a death, the surviving partner is faced with resuming a driving career after perhaps 30 or 40 years off the road.

BSM Intuition has been designed to address the problem. Intuition comprises a video and workbook for home study and a supervised two hour on-road drive.

The video and workbook recognise the user's existing knowledge and skills, assess their attitude to driving and suggest issues which may need to be addressed.

The two hour on-road session with a BSM instructor allows for a debrief of the workbook exercises and a practical assessment of on-road skills. A final 20-minute supervised on-road session allows the driver to put into effect the good practices gleaned from the study and driving assessment.

Paul Atkinson, BSM managing director, said: “Intuition addresses a real practical need for very many people.”
