London Bridge engineering works set to cause delays and cancellations for Southeastern passengers

Although strikes by Network Rail employees were called off yesterday, engineering works still spell travel misery for many this bank holiday weekend.

Both the TSSA and the RMT unions cancelled industrial action planned for Monday and Tuesday, yet major engineering works mean Kent's train travel will still be seriously impaired.

While Southeastern is promising a normal service on Monday and Tuesday, work connected with the Thameslink Programme - as well as work to improve lines in East Kent - will cause significant changes to services.

Work to construct a new station for Rochester and improve signalling along the railway through the Medway Towns will continue on Sunday and Monday this weekend.

No trains will serve stations between Rainham and Teynham and Sittingbourne to Sheerness, with rail replacement buses in operation. High Speed services will run from Gillingham to London St Pancras.

On Saturday Charing Cross, Cannon Street and Waterloo East stations will be shut.

Southeastern services won't serve London Bridge apart from Hastings services.

Trains will be diverted to either London Victoria or London Blackfriars.

On Sunday, the same stations will be shut.

On Monday, the same stations will be closed.

Trains will be diverted to either London Victoria or London Blackfriars with some trains starting their journey at New Cross.

For more information on the disruptions visit the Network Rail site.
