Pedestrian in double decker tragedy

A MAN in his 50s has died in hospitalafter being struck by a double decker bus.

The accident happened shortly after midnight on Tuesday in Anerley Hill, Crystal Palace.

The victim was taken to King’s College Hospital suffering from serious leg injuries and died at 1.36am.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan police said: "We are waiting for next of kin to be informed and formal identification.

"There were no other injuries and no arrests. A post mortem examination is expected to take place on Friday at the Princess Royal University Hospital. An inquest will open and adjourn in due course."

A spokeswoman for Transport for London said: "Our thoughts are with the gentleman's family at this time."
