A pensioner has been found after going missing for more than 30 hours when driving to his daughter's house.

Dennis Leighton, 82, left his home in Windsor at 7.30pm on Monday to drive 50 miles to his daughter's home in Swanley.

But his journey, which normally takes about an hour, took him more than 30 hours when he got lost.

His daughter called the police just before midnight on Monday when she became concerned.

Mr Leighton, who drives a silver Vauxhall Astra Estate, was clocked on an automatic number plate recognition camera in Dartford at 11.20am on Tuesday.

Thames Valley Police released a missing persons appeal and at the time Sgt Sarah Godsmark, from Windsor Police station, said: "We are concerned for Mr Leighton's welfare as he is elderly and is about to spend his second night away from home.

"He has made this journey several times before and knows the route well."

Mr Leighton was finally found in South London in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

It is believed he had to visit hospital for treatment after his ordeal.
