See the flag on top of
the radio tower

Ministry of Defence officials are
investigating how a pirate flag came to be flying from the top of a
radio mast near Dover.

The flag, bearing the skull and crossbones,
has been hoisted on the top of one of the three masts at Swingate,
behind Dover Castle.

The masts are used for a variety of radio
transmissions, some for the public, and others, including
cross-Channel communications, for the Ministry of Defence.

Access to the site is secured, and the masts
are behind fences.

It is not known at this stage whether someone
has been able to break into the compound and climb to the top of
the mast to place the flag there, or whether it was done by a
member of staff as a prank.

All that is known is that the masts have not,
as yet, been taken over by pirates.
