KENT Police has issued advice to people in county ahead of next weekend's Tour de France.

The largest event the county has seen for many years is expected to attract around 1.5million visitors to Kent and everyone planning to watch the race is being urged to keep their belongings safe.

Supt Mark Janaway said: "We are mobilising around 1,700 members of staff for the event, including police officers, police community support officers, and support staff.

"We want everyone to enjoy this, the world's biggest annual sporting event, and all that Kent has to offer during the celebrations throughout the weekend."
