Police advice on emergency call problem

THERE is currently a problem with the telephone system which means that certain numbers cannot make emergency calls.

Telephone numbers in the Barming area which start with the digits 01622 72 are not working properly and cannot make 999 calls at the moment.

Police are advising that people with the relevant numbers who need to contact police in an emergency should do so from a mobile phone, or by ringing their local police station.

The problem should be rectified later this afternoon.
