Armed police were called to an area of Margate after reports of a man brandishing a sword.
Armed officers, police and ambulance crews were on the scene at Athelstan Road, Cliftonville, at 1.50pm on Saturday.
The man then injured himself trying to climb in a window of a property in Northdown Road, Cliftonville.
Initial reports had suggested it was a stabbing incident.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and taken to hospital. His injuries are not thought to be serious.
