Police name death crash victim

AN ELDERLY woman who died following a car crash at an accident blackspot has been named as Ivy Chilvers, of Applegarth Park, Seasalter, near Whitstable.

Mrs Chilvers, 81, was seriously injured when the Skoda driven by her husband collided with a Ford Orion at the junction of Church Lane, Seasalter, and the sliproad from the new Thanet Way.

She was airlifted to the Kent and Canterbury Hospital but later died. Husband Bill, also 81, is still receiving treatment although his injuries are not thought to be serious.

The 32-year-old driver of the Orion was taken to hospital with minor injuries and later discharged.

Any witnesses to the accident are asked to contact PC John Harris at Canterbury police on 01227 762055.
