Police name man in parachute tragedy

KENT Police have released the name of a man who died after taking part in a parachute jump at Headcorn Aerodrome, near Maidstone.

He was 40-year-old David Karley, who lived in Hove in East Sussex.

Police were called to the aerodrome after the incident, which happened at around 4.30pm on Sunday, September 17.

Mr Karley was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford by air ambulance but died shortly afterwards. A post mortem examination showed Mr Karley died of multiple injuries.

Kent Police is not treating the death as suspicious at this stage but officers are working with the Parachute Association, which is investigating the circumstances of trhe tragedy.

Police will examine the association's findings when the report is concluded.

Det Sgt Vicki Withnall said: "Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends."
